I welcome you to my little niche of Elfwood.  Some of you, especially those from the Ambrosia Software community, might know me as JoshTigerheart.  Below you'll find works of mine dating as far back as 2004.  They cover much of the the breadth and depth of my writings, everything from my awful, grammar/spelling error filled early works, to my far greater, cleaner, and superior recent works; along with the occasional black sheep that is either superior or inferior to the rest of the stories written around that time.  Most of them are a mix of fantasy and science fiction, though you'll find a couple of modern humor pieces in there that paraody super heros.  Quite fun, I'd say.

I'm also working on a novel titled Tigerheart.  For quite a dang long time, my work could be described as procrastination.  Well, that's changed.  I have completed, short of any additional revising I might do, several chapters.  The first four (of the five I will post) are available for your viewing and commenting pleasure on this very site.  Just click stories and look over in the 'T' section.

As for other interests, I'm pretty heavy into gaming and play a large variety of genres.  I read whenever I happen to have a new book on hand, use the internet a bit, and work on some of my other projects, including a total conversion plug-in for Escape Velocity Nova titled Colosseum (which I've finally finished!).  I also play Magic: The Gathering and (I suppose) am quiet good for a casual player.

Finally, I am a moderator of the Elfwood forums.  If you have any trouble there, I or the other moderators can help you.  If you notice a post that breaks the rules, just use the report button.  However, I can't change how the forums work, so please don't ask.  Also, I do not moderate art or stories, so I cannot help you with your tickets.

Well, if you've read my profile this far, I'm sure your eager to get at my stories.  There's no order, almost all of them are stand alone.  And for the couple that aren't, it's made rather clear in the story information what you probably should read first.  Though there are not any direct sequels that absolutely require you to read something first.  Aka, no true "Part 2"s.  And please do mind the dates I mention.  Typically, the newer the piece, the better it is.

Interests
Writing, roleplaying, gaming, developing plug-ins, Magic: The Gathering. Yeah, odds are I fit the description of a nerd. Doesn't bother me though.
Favorite Fantasy/Scifi Movies and TV Shows
Star Wars, Futurama, some others I'm sure I can't recall at the moment.
Favorite Fantasy/Scifi Books
Hitchhiker's Triology (of the five, Life, The Universe, and Everything), Sword of Shanarra series, Heritage of Shanarra series. And then there's Tigerheart... [/shamelessadvertisementformynunreleasedbook]

Hey. I’m a fellow writer and would love to have your feedback. I’m defiantly gonna have to check you stuff out.

:-) Joshua Price replies: "I recommend Tigerheart since that’s probably the most important thing in my gallery at the moment. For humor though, in no particular order, there’s "Super Nuisance and the C.E.P", "The Ridiculous Battle of Justice", "Attack of the Inane Monster", and "The Null and Void Tavern".

As for your works, if you can tolerate my slow pace at getting to them thanks to reality, sure I’ll give them a read. Of course, as a member of Comment Exchange, I owe you a return comment for leaving at least one somewhere on my page, since you’re a writer. So, why not make it a useful comment and give feedback?"

I’m currently reading V-I Day, and am enjoying it immensly 3. I especially like the way that the text is sub-divided into times and how different characters come through into the storyline... I read on in anticpation.

:-) Joshua Price replies: "Glad you’re enjoying it. There’s a few parts in the story that I’m dissatisfied with that I would cut or replace entirely if I ever did any revising on it. But, based on feedback, I did pull off the experiment of jumping from perspective to perspective at least fairly well. When you’re done, feel free to let me know what you think of it."

Hey, wow it has been such a long time since wrote here. But, I’m out for the summer (as of yesterday) so I will have WAY more free time. Crazy psycho teacher having me do a project over an ENTIRE decade! What went on, social, entertainment, over sea dealings, blah, blah, blah, research, research, research for two months. *sighs* It is finally over, thank you, thank you. Getting an A when it decides your grade for the entire second semester is a beautiful thing.

Anyway, just saying hi...trying to reconnect. I was reading a few of your comments from a little while ago, and I noticed you didn’t know how to read Elghinyrrok. Well, its El-gin-EAR-ock. I know, it is spelled extremely weird, but you can sort of sound it out...I think.

As an update for the Order of the Dragon, I have...wait for it...six chapters left in the entire thing and I am done. *claps* I’m really excited to finish it, since before retyping that trilogy I never really finished any of my other projects.

This is an extremely long post--hence the double post--but I wanted to ask if you knew how to upload things with the new design. I haven’t figured it out yet, and I need to upload a few more parts of my story...and reupload chapters I already have up. It changed again, to the point where the elves aren’t even dark elves anymore. New type, because I was worried about Wizards of the Coast copyright issues. Also, I changed the whole giant spider thing with Tathar to a new, creepy monster. I freaked myself out since I wrote it at midnight...pitch black in my room...with a giant black dog that decided to terrify me by jumping on my bed. But, that is good, though, because if you can scare yourself, it has to be scary. I need to test it on my little brother.

Anyway, sorry about the information overload. Thanks for reading.

:-) Joshua Price replies: "Congrats on almost being done as of 11 days ago. As for uploading, I haven’t tried it with the new design, but hopefully you’ve figured it out by now. Sorry for not responding sooner, I’ve been busy and then on vacation. But, now I’m back.

As for Order of the Dragon, do you want me to still read the last chapter or what with all the changes? Commentary on the old version might not be very useful at this point, but... never know. Just let me know now that I’m free again."

That’s okay. And yes, as of today, I did figure out how to upload things. I actually feel sort of dumb that I didn’t see it before. I must have been tired or something.

Anyway, I submitted my drastically changed chapters to Elfwood, so until the mods check them over you can wait. Thanks for reading them and giving advice. Its been really helpful. I have a new character which is pretty much the reason the book has changed so much. I forgot to mention it when I was listing changes. I’m curious about how people will react to her since I personally don’t like her. Oh well, you can’t like all of your characters, but, I guess that’s more realistic. She has some good points...maybe...sort of...okay, not really, ha ha.

Take as much time as you want rereading or you can just read the new last chapter and comment on it. In my defense, though, I haven’t updated for a while. 1 Remember when I would update every week?

Thanks again.

:-) Joshua Price replies: "My attention and focus has been so scattered lately. I remember reading this comment and intending to reply to it. I guess I got distracted by something and forgot, only to remember now that I got an email your material got published. I’ll probably reread the entire thing so I don’t miss anything important that may affect the chapter I didn’t read. Glad to hear you’re getting close to being finished. I wish I could get myself to write more, I’m still working on Chapter 6 of Tigerheart. I’m so slow at this..."

Just get to it whenever you can. I’m in no hurry. Just wanted to let you know, though, that chapter G got messed up, so it is still the old version. Apparently the word "hobbit" is copyright to Tolkein (I had no idea) so I had to change it to halfling. Everything else is updated and new, though, and chapter G is a long way off, so it should be okay.

Its too bad. Chapter G is becoming my favorite chapter. Other than when Vanima is introduced, that is.

Thanks for reading.

Hey.

My latest chapter is up, so I just wanted to let you know. School’s been insane ever since it started. I’m taking college classes during highschool, so its a little hectic. You’re probably really busy, too.

Thanks for reading.

:-) Joshua Price replies: "Yeah, classes have me busy. I’m taking several literature classes this semester, so I have to do a lot of reading. So much that I tend to get burned out on it for the day by the time I’m done with homework.

I’ll keep looking over your chapters some more when I can. Lately, it hasn’t been so much of an issue of free time as it’s been of being able to focus on more reading."

in your profile pic, are you climbing some kinda rock?

:-) Joshua Price replies: "No, I was faking that I was falling into the river in the background. It used to be more clear when our profile pictures were bigger. I should probably change mine, it’s a few years out of date anyway."

Hi Joshua,
Came here after seeing your name alot in the forums and so decided id have a read of your work. based on your messages to others i started on tigerheart and let me say so far its ace! Ive just finished chapter 3 and am already starting to identify with the characters, I can almost see where the story could possibly go and am wondering things like: how the group at the beginning will grow together, thats if theyre allowed to stay as one unit. If Isaac will ever meet the emperor from the opening scene how much control the characters have over magic.

As a martial artist in real life, the sparring scene in chapter 2 was written brilliantly, i could perfectly imagine the fight as it progressed and how the combatants bodies where positioned.

is this going to be a full novel one day or are you limiting your ambitions to the wood?

anyway onto chapter 4!

If you ever get a few minutes it would be brilliant if you could have a read of my "the failing aegis" and the "aftermath" scene and let me know what you think?

Just finished reading the last chapter and if this ever does get published give me a prod, id happily put my hand in my pocket to read the rest. brilliant work 12

:-) Joshua Price replies: "Glad you’re enjoyed it. I do intend to get it published some day, so those 5 chapters are all that’ll ever show up on Elfwood (and, in fact, may need to be taken down at some point). At the moment, however, it’s on a bit of hold as I’m trying to come up with some short fiction to get published in a few science fiction magazines. The idea is to get my foot in the door in the writing world so that, hopefully, it’ll help me when I go to try to get a novel published.

Also, thanks for the comments on the sparring in Chapter 2. I try to make the combat realistic (well, as realistic as it’s going to get in a science-fantasy setting) and easy to visualize, so it’s good that is working. One of the things I strive for, both in fight scenes and otherwise, is to write the scene clear enough so that for the reader’s imagination it’d be like watching a movie.

I’ll definitely give your stuff a look when I can, but I can’t promise it’ll be soon. College life doesn’t leave me much in the way of personal free time, which I usually end up using to get my mind off things rather than putting it to more constructive use.

Thanks again for reading."
